The summer restorations are underway and with this heat, I sure am longing for the cool of fall and the upcoming winter!
We are starting the restoration on the 1967 Bolens Diablo Rouge Model 500 that will be the showcase snowmobile at the banquet event. You can follow all the details of this restoration by checking out the post on the Hus Ski / Diablo Forum. This is the perfect time of year to get that Hus Ski or Diablo out and get it ready for January. There is still plenty of time for a restoration or other modest repairs before we get tied up in the November/December Holiday Season. If embarking on a restoration, be sure to get in on the ski give-a-way!
Here is an updated Hus Ski and Diablo Rouge Parts List (click here) if you need to see what you need.
Have you seen the details of the event on Youtube? Check it out here – Bolens Diablo Rouge 50th Anniversary. This fall, you can expect to see flyers and advertisement in many of the local, regional, national and international publications about the celebration. The local Ozaukee Press will certainly be publishing the event along with the Antique Snowmobile Club of American, the Anitque and Classic Snowmobile Club of Canada, American Snowmobiler, the Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum, Wisconsin Snowmobile News and others. We are reaching out to all ends of the earth to make sure anybody who loves Hus Skis, Diablos, Sprints and Bolens knows about the event. So please share anywhere you can.
If you are a past Bolens employee, please help us get the word out to everyone you know who might be interested in this event. A special “Thank You” to you all for your enthusiasm.
We are thrilled that people are coming from all ends of the USA and Canada. The weekend is shaping up something like this:
– Arrive Friday to join us in a mid-to late afternoon trail ride.
– Friday evening plans are for a Bolens themed banquet for anyone interested in attending.
– Saturday at Upper Lake Park in Port Washington hosted by the Snowrunners Snowmobile Club.
– Saturday evening banquet with a meal, key note speakers and all kinds of fun and door prizes.
– Sunday morning continues with more time to mingle in the banquet hall among the vast number of exhibits.
– We may offer a gathering at the Diablo Shop in Sobieski on Sunday if anyone has interest (please let me know)
– There is also an opportunity to join us for more Hus Ski and Diablo sledding and foolishness on Monday as we move the party up north to Elcho, Wisconsin (again, it’s important that you let me know if you are interested in joining us as this will not be a public event).
Banquet costs are still being determined and we commit to getting you that information next month. With the additional opportunities to attend several events, we will consider discount options for attending multiple venues.
To have room for what we expect is an expanded attendance, we have maxed out the block of reserved rooms at the Country Inn and Suites. If you plan to attend and are pulling a trailer, this hotel is your best option as it has plenty of room in the parking lot.
If you are even just thinking of coming, but not sure yet, it costs nothing to reserve a room or tell me you plan to come to the banquets. So please do not put this off.
Making hotel reservations at the
Country Inn and Suites in Port Washington is simple. The hotel is offering rooms at significantly reduced rates (double occupancy rates of $79 for a standard room and $99 for a one bedroom parlor suite) . The banquets will be in the Lakeview Conference Center which is at the hotel. When making reservations by calling
1-262-284-2100, request your room be part of the Bolens Diablo Rouge 50th Anniversary block.
If you book your rooms in August or tell me directly in August that you are coming to the Diablo Rouge Banquet, I will get you and your guests their allotted “6” Prize Tickets (see past Newsletters if you do not know what I am talking about regarding the Prize Tickets). There are still a few days left to get those 6 tickets for this month.
Our Sponsorship has been out of this world. Check out our sponsors at the Sponsor Page of the website.
Please let me know if you have questions. Make your hotel reservations with the Country Inn. I will presume if you are staying at the hotel, you plan to come to the banquet. If you are local to the Port area and not staying at the hotel, make your banquet reservations with me directly.
Thank you with all my heart to all those working hard to put together an awesome event and hope to see many of you in Port this January!
